EISEF Privacy Policy Overview
When the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair collects your private personal information, we use it only as needed to run the Fair. We never sell your information to anybody for any reason. We don't share it with anybody except as needed for running the Fair (meaning, we provide student names and addresses to Award Sponsors, if they ask, so they can send awards to the winners).
When we say "Private Personal Information", we mean personal identifying information which a stranger would normally not know, including your home address, phone number, and e-mail address. We don't consider other information private, such as your name, school, and grade in school. Certainly your name and picture are "personal information"; but EISEF is a public event, and we publicize the people who take part in it and what they have accomplished. By taking part in the Fair, you agree to this publicity.
When we say we "Publish" information, we mean in press releases, in the booklet distributed at the Fair, and on the EISEF web site (http://www.eisef.org/).
In short, we tell people who you are (by publishing your name, school, and photo), but not how to find you (your address, phone number, or e-mail address).
When we publish information to our web site, it will stay there indefinitely. People will be able to read about and see what you did at the Fair for many years to come.
Specifics for each type of participant
Students
- EISEF collects your name, age, school, address, and exhibit information, plus the name and address of your adult sponsor (usually, your teacher).
- We publish this information about you:
- Anything you tell us in your
Student Entry Form
except for
your home address, phone number, and e-mail address - Awards you receive at the Fair
- Pictures of you with your exhibit, receiving awards, and elsewhere at the Fair (all at our discretion)
- Anything you tell us in your
Student Entry Form
- If you win a Sponsored Award, we will provide your name to the Sponsor, plus your address (if asked) so the Sponsor can send you your prize. The Sponsor may also decide to publish your information.
Judges and other volunteers
- EISEF collects your name, address, job preference, and history with us.
- We may publish your name in gratitude for your help.
- We may publish pictures of you at the Fair.
- Otherwise we use your personal information only to remind you to come to the Fair and to contact you next year about helping us then.
Award sponsors
- EISEF collects your name, address, and history with us.
- We may publish your name in gratitude and pictures of the students who receive your awards at the Fair.
- Otherwise we use your information only to help you judge exhibits and present your awards at the Fair, and to contact you next year about sponsoring awards again.
Contributors
- If you contribute money, goods, or services to the Fair, we publish your name, city, and level of your contribution—unless you specifically ask to remain anonymous.
